Women hold only 23% of leadership positions in media organizations*.

There are many discussions around the reason for this gap. While others debate, we invite you to join the Alliance for Women in Media to hear from some of these women leaders.

Identify the unique skills that can help you truly excel in your career and be personally fulfilled.

Mary Jo Romeo of UP Business Communications will moderate the discussion on leadership skills with successful women in media including Mary Ann Belliveau, National Health and Wellness Director at Twitter and Amanda Richman (tentative), President Starcom

The 2008 research was based on the fact that while some leadership qualities are innate, most can be acquired or learned.  They determined there are five  dimensions are: 

  •          Meaning – Purpose, Happiness, Signature Strengths
  •          Managing Energy – Minimizing Depletion, restoration, flow
  •          Positive Framing – Self-awareness, learned optimism, moving on
  •          Connecting – networking design, sponsorship, reciprocity, inclusiveness
  •          Engaging – voice, ownership, risk taking, adaptability
